Privacy Policy

The North Carolina Rideshare Drivers Alliance ("the Alliance," "we," "us," or "our") is a statewide coalition organized by and for rideshare drivers. Because we organize around conditions set by the platforms drivers currently work for, we take driver privacy more seriously than a typical website would need to. This policy exists to tell you, plainly, what we collect, what we do with it, and — most importantly — what we will never do with it.

When you interact with this website, we may collect:

• Information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, county, and the rideshare platform(s) you drive for, when you join the Alliance
• Information you voluntarily submit, such as a personal account, complaint, or issue report, when you use "Share Your Story" or "Report an Issue"
• Basic technical information collected automatically by standard web hosting (such as browser type or general location by IP address), if and when we enable website analytics. This policy will be updated before any such tool is added.

We do not ask for and do not want sensitive information beyond what's needed to organize effectively — for example, we don't ask for your Social Security number, driver's license number, or financial account details through this website.

We use the information you provide to:

• Contact you about Alliance organizing, campaigns, and updates
• Understand the scale and geographic footprint of driver support (for example, how many drivers in a given county or on a given platform are part of the Alliance)
• Compile aggregate statistics and documentation to support advocacy, complaints, and legislative or regulatory engagement
• Respond to issues or complaints you report

We may share aggregate, de-identified statistics — meaning numbers and trends that do not identify any individual driver — with:

• Government bodies and the North Carolina legislature, including counts of drivers, complaints, or reported issues broken down by state, county, platform, or any combination of these
• The press and the public, using the same kind of aggregate statistics, as part of our advocacy and public communication work

In all of these cases, what's shared is a number or a trend — for example, "42 drivers in Wake County reported a specific dispatch issue" — never a list of names, emails, or other information that identifies who reported it.

If you submit a personal account through "Share Your Story," it is treated as private and internal by default. We will never publish your story, your name, or any identifying details publicly without asking you first and getting your explicit, separate consent for that specific use. Agreeing to join the Alliance, or submitting a story, is not by itself consent to have it published.

If we'd like to feature your story publicly — on this website, in press materials, or in testimony — we will ask you directly, tell you exactly how it will be used and where, and only proceed if you say yes.

We may use third-party services to operate parts of this website — for example, a form-processing service to handle membership sign-ups, or a hosting provider to keep the site online. These providers may process your information on our behalf, strictly to provide that technical function, and are not authorized to use it for their own purposes or to share it with anyone else, including rideshare platforms. As we finalize which specific services we use, we will update this section to name them.

We keep member information indefinitely, unless and until you ask us to remove it. There's no automatic expiration. If you want your information deleted at any time, contact us using the information below and we will remove it.

You can, at any time:

• Ask what information we have on file for you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate information
• Ask us to delete your information entirely
• Withdraw consent for any public use of your story, going forward

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us, including limiting who has access to it. No online system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but protecting driver information — especially given the retaliation risk organizing can carry — is treated as a priority, not an afterthought.

This website and the Alliance are intended for current or prospective rideshare drivers who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date at the top and, for any change that meaningfully affects how your information is used, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify current members directly rather than relying on a silent update.
